The first event took place on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, in partnership with Paris&Co, the economic development and innovation agency for Paris and the metropolis.

A round table brought together logistics experts to discuss the following theme: How are urban logistics players innovating to meet the challenges of the sustainable city

  • Guillaume Desveaux, President of Al Cargo Foundation, an association whose aim is to accelerate collaborative practices and the adoption of new data and AI usages to help the Transport & Logistics sector in its energy and environmental transition;
  • Lémar Rustar, Head of Urban Logistics Solutions at Renault Trucks, a French heavy-duty vehicle manufacturer that designs, produces and distributes internationally means of transport adapted to the needs of goods mobility players;
  • Anaïs Schoreel, Exoskeleton Integration Manager at Japet, French exoskeleton manufacturer and integrator.

Participants were able to discuss a range of topics: AI as a tool for optimizing logistics flows and reducing noise pollution, the design of delivery vehicles adapted to the new challenges facing cities, and also the introduction of exoskeletons, revolutionizing handling work.

Discussions were followed by tests and demonstrations of several prototypes:

  • Pelican Cycle: a cargo train with a flexible volume ranging from 100 L to 3,000 L and a load capacity of up to 500 kg, thanks to an innovative synchronized motorization system;
  • The Vike from uMotion: the first cyclo-electric hybrid and modular battery van, emitting 4 times less fine particles and 3 times less CO2 than a current electric van at half the price;
  • Three exoskeletons offered by Japet, to combat work-related fatigue and RSI: Japet.W+ to protect the back, Plum to relieve shoulder strain and Moon to relieve neck strain.

Laurence Giard, Managing Director of SEGRO France said:

“A true showcase for SEGRO's ambition, the House of Sustainable Urban Logistics is a collaborative platform that aims to bring together public and private players, start-ups, academics, experts, etc., to work together to develop concrete solutions that reconcile the logistical imperatives of cities with their environmental challenges. It's a place for consultation, promotion, information and exchange for all players."
