SEGRO Centre Paris Les Gobelins’ Community Centre: solidarity initiatives in the heart of the Olympiades district
SEGRO, one of Europe's leading logistics and industrial property companies, is joining forces with Paris&Co, the Paris and metropolitan area's regional innovation agency, to launch a call for applications to occupy the Community Centre at the SEGRO Centre Paris Les Gobelins (Paris 13th arrondissement). The application process is open to organisations from the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE), which are characterised by their priorisation of social and environmental objectives over profit, to utilise the unique space designed by SEGRO for initiatives that will benefit local residents.
Located at the heart of the Olympiades district, which is undergoing major change, this innovative space is part of a large-scale urban project to refurbish the former Gobelins SNCF freight station into an innovative, sustainable urban logistics hub. With this project, SEGRO is contributing to the transformation and revitalisation of the district, and to a better quality of life for its residents. Located at 105 rue de Tolbiac, the future Community Centre, with a surface area of c. 500 sq m, will house one or more socially useful activities (e.g. community catering, object or bicycle repair workshops, recycling centre, concierge service, etc.).
This call for applications is open to all organisations operating in the social and solidarity economy (SSE) and looking to expand their activities by establishing permanent premises in a fast-growing area. Applicants must also propose projects that demonstrate a commitment to the neighbourhood in terms of training, employment, social inclusion or environmental initiatives. Applications may relate to some or all of the available space and may be submitted individually or as part of a group.
Applicants will be selected on the basis of the following criteria:
- The project's relevance to the area: its ability to be rooted in the local dynamic and to bring benefits to local residents and users.
- The economic sustainability of the project: the organisations must present a viable economic model guaranteeing the sustainability of their activities.
- Measuring impact: the social, economic and environmental impact of the project will be assessed.
Key dates:
- The call for applications is open from Monday 23 September to Friday 8 November 2024.
- Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed by a selection panel on Friday 22 November before the winners are announced early December.
The initiative aligns with the company’s Responsible SEGRO commitment to invest in its local communities and environments and contribute to their long-term vitality.
Laurence Giard, Managing Director of SEGRO France, comments:
‘With the Community Centre that we will be opening within the SEGRO Centre Paris Les Gobelins, we want to offer players in the Social and Solidarity Economy a space where their initiatives can flourish over the long term, while also having a direct positive impact on local residents and the life of the Olympiades district.
“Our action doesn't stop at refurbishing the former SNCF freight station of Les Gobelins: this project embodies our vision of a more inclusive and responsible city, where a real estate developer contributes to the sustainable development of the community in which it operates’.
