Privacy and cookies

Now in its eighth year, this annual volunteering event brings together colleagues and SEGRO supply chain to contribute to charitable causes that improve the local environment and the health and wellbeing of the community.

As part of its Responsible SEGRO commitment to creating a positive socio-economic impact in the regions where it operates, SEGRO supported 11 community projects across the Thames Valley, Greater London and West Midlands.

These initiatives address specific local needs, creating a meaningful and lasting impact on the communities.

Neil Impiazzi, Partnership Development Director at SEGRO, said:

"Our annual Day of Giving is just one example of how we continually strive to make a positive impact in our communities. This year saw an exceptional turnout, with a record number of volunteers participating.

“Giving back is vital to our success as a business, which is why there is no limit to the number of days our employees can volunteer throughout the year. We are dedicated to creating and delivering tailored programs to help meet the needs of our local communities.”

Activities on the day across SEGRO’s portfolio included:

Slough / Thames Valley

DASH, Slough

  • For over 45 years, DASH has been supporting individuals affected by domestic abuse. As part of our Day of Giving, colleagues supported the charity across three projects, helping to redecorate safe houses, tidying up gardens and pruning trees to create a welcoming environment for those in need, as well as supporting fundraising activities.

Recycled Teenagers, Slough

  • Recycled Teenagers aims to bring joy and companionship to the elderly, addressing their physical, emotional, and mental health needs. Colleagues recently visited the Britwell centre to host a coffee morning and games.

Salt Hill Park, Slough

  • Managed by Slough Borough Council, Salt Hill Park is a popular recreation space within the town. Colleagues helped to enhance the area's biodiversity by removing rubbish, clearing vegetation around the stream, and cutting back overgrowth.

Wexham Park Hospital, Slough

  • Wexham Park Hospital serves the wider Berkshire community. Colleagues spent the day assisting in the café and enhancing the intensive care unit gardens by painting furniture, removing rubbish and removing moss contributing to a more welcoming environment for staff, patients, and visitors alike.

 

Ealing / Brent

City Harvest, Acton

  • City Harvest collects surplus food from a range of food industry businesses and distributes it to those in need. Colleagues assisted with tasks such as unloading deliveries, checking and sorting food, and preparing meal and snack boxes.

Canal and River Trust, Park Royal

  • The Canal and River Trust is a conservation organisation that operates across England and Wales to enhance biodiversity and create accessible green spaces for local people to enjoy. Colleagues participated in activities such as litter picking and managing vegetation along the canal

East London

Fight for Peace

  • Fight for Peace, a sports academy in East London, provides free boxing and martial arts training to young people aged 7-25 to help them reach their full potential. Colleagues recently assisted with gardening and cleaning tasks, including tree and vegetation clearance, and front-of-house cleaning.

North London

My AFK

  • My AFK empowers children and young people with disabilities and autism to live more independent, fulfilling lives. As part of their community outreach efforts, employees recently participated in a careers day, where they assisted with activities including a design project.

Canal and River Trust, Enfield

  • The Canal and River Trust is a conservation organisation that operates across England and Wales to enhance biodiversity and create accessible green spaces for local people to enjoy. Colleagues participated in activities such as litter picking and managing vegetation along the canal.

Coventry

Groundwork, Coventry

  • Groundwork is a federation of independent charities that is helping people to get jobs and creating accessible green spaces for the local community. As part of our Day of Giving, colleagues helped to improve a local community space, enhancing the landscape, and cleaning up the existing outdoor area.

In addition, SEGRO has held its second annual financial stakeholder Day of Giving, where shareholders, sell-side analysts and financial advisors came together to volunteer for a good cause. Representatives from organisations including BNP Paribas Exane, UBS and AXA spent the day with SEGRO and charity partner Groundwork clearing vegetation and rubbish from around a pond, cutting back overgrown bushes along pathways and clearing up litter at Deerwood Park in Slough.
