SEGRO has rented a total of 1,600 square meters in its SEGRO CityPark Cologne to two companies with sustainable mobility solutions. EmTransit GmbH, a provider of e-scooter rides in various European cities better known under the names "Ridedott" and "Dott", rents 800 square meters. The company's e-scooter concept is characterized by its sustainability, as it transports the batteries differently than its competitors with e-vans and cargo bikes. In addition, Nextbike, a provider of bike sharing and a partner of the Cologne transport company, rents 800 square meters. The hall areas are to be used as a workshop and spare parts store for the KVB Rad 2.0 rental system and the office space for controlling the rental systems throughout the Rhineland.

While the existing areas are now fully let with the rental to EmTransit, the rental to Nextbike represents the first rental of the expansion areas currently under construction. SEGRO is expanding the area so that existing tenants and other companies can continue to be offered areas on the site in the future currently around 17,400 square meters of new rental space, which should be ready for occupancy from October 2021. So far, 25,000 square meters of commercial space have already been completed in CityPark, which are to be expanded to a total of 55,000 square meters in the long term. After the current construction phase, 42,000 square meters will be available.

"With their sustainable mobility concepts, our two new tenants are an excellent addition to our sustainability strategy," says Simon Czerwinski, Manager Development Light Industrial at SEGRO. Because the SEGRO CityPark Cologne has wooden trusses instead of steel girders, has a green roof and is currently being expanded to include e-charging stations. In addition, due to its central location, it offers short distances to the city center and the Ehrenfeld district.

SEGRO CityPark Cologne is located on Vitalisstrasse in the Bickendorf district on the former AkzoNobel factory site. The Technologiepark train station offers connections to the S-Bahn and regional train network. In addition, the district is served by four subway lines, so that the location can be easily reached by public transport. In addition, the district with the A 1 and A 57 is optimally connected to the motorway network. The railway siding on the property also offers the potential to shift freight traffic from road to rail.

The users of the area include Deutsche Post, Delicato Foodservice, Alvero office furniture rental, the logistics service provider Espack, the online retailer Kapten & Son, deintorte.de and the company Shirtee, which specializes in digital printing.

The logistics real estate consultant Logivest acted in an advisory capacity for the rental to Nextbike.
