Ule SEGRO among Best Practices 2019
Bee hives and hotels for insects installed last year in three SEGRO logistics parks in Poland is an ecological initiative that was distinguished among the CSR activities presented in the annual report of the Responsible Business Forum "Responsible Business in Poland 2019. Good Practices".
The hives mentioned in the report have been erected in SEGRO Logistics Park Warsaw, Pruszków, SEGRO Logistics Park Poznań, Gądki and SEGRO Logistics Park Gliwice, and over half a million bees have already moved into them. The choice of parks was dictated by their location in terms of their proximity to crops - bees pollinate as many as 3/4 of the main crops. According to preliminary estimates, the bees inhabiting SEGRO parks can produce up to 200 kilograms of honey per year.
The SEGRO initiative was appreciated by the FOB in the category of "biodiversity" in the area of "environment". SEGRO is the only developer and owner of warehouse properties included in the list of all practices reported by 214 companies.
- It is more important than ever today that we try to minimize the effects of human activity and its negative impact on the natural environment by joining forces. We are glad that the installation of hives, which is one of the unique, ecological projects implemented in SEGRO logistics parks, was honored and entered the Best Practice 2019 list. Interest in this topic shows that it is gaining more and more importance from year to year - says Waldemar Witczak, Regional Director of SEGRO.
The report "Responsible Business in Poland. Good Practices ”is the most important periodical publication of the Responsible Business Forum, published since 2002. It is an annual review of the activities of companies that reported their CSR activities and a summary of the most important issues related to responsible business in Poland.
