  • With this operation, SEGRO strengthens its position in the sector, reaching a total portfolio of 340,000 m² that includes 100,000 m² of constructed buildings, 95,000 m² of projects under construction and 140,000 m² of land

SEGRO, the British investment fund specialized in the industrial and logistics real estate sector, consolidates its position in Spain with the development of an additional 36,000 m² built for distribution in Getafe, Madrid. Specifically, the 6-hectare plot of land is located in the "Puerta Mayor-Los Gavilanes" Business and Logistics Park, a strategic area where SEGRO already has another project under construction.

With this operation, SEGRO continues its development to become one of the main players in the logistics real estate sector in Spain with a total portfolio of 340,000 m² of buildings and land for logistics and state-of-the-art distribution, betting on quality in the facilities and Location.

SEGRO's commitment to the development of projects located in privileged areas materializes with this new piece of land located just 14 km southeast of Madrid, along the A4 motorway (Madrid - Andalusia) and with direct access to the M- fifty. This enclave has a total area of 1,700,000 m² and has one of the best and most modern exterior developments with 500,000 m² of green areas, facilitating both distribution in the capital and nationally to other parts of the state. In addition, multinational companies such as Amazon, Decathlon, CostCo and Coca Cola are located in the same area, confirming itself as a strategic enclave.

Flexibility is one of the distinctive features of SEGRO, therefore, this new distribution center can be adapted to the needs of customers in order to guarantee the satisfaction of their logistics needs. The project will be built under the latest environmental standards and with the aim of obtaining the BREEAM "Very Good" certificate, in line with SEGRO's strategy of developing modern, quality and flexible surface buildings.

On the other hand, the first 47,000 m² platform, located in the same Getafe business park, is under construction and is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2018.

Sara Hernández, mayor of the Getafe City Council, wanted to “welcome SEGRO to our city, wishing them the best of luck. For us, the fact that large international companies choose Getafe to carry out their work is always good news, because it positions us as an economic engine at a national level and of course because it generates more employment among our neighbors”.

For his part, David Alcázar, Director of SEGRO Spain comments that “with this new operation we consolidate our position in Spain and in one of the most important logistics areas for local and national distribution located southeast of Madrid. We have always opted for the development of quality projects, located in strategic enclaves, that allow our clients an effective and efficient distribution of their products.”

SEGRO is already one of the largest property owners in spaces for logistics and distribution in Spain and at a European level, developing both reconversion projects for industrial facilities and new construction.
