SEGRO plc (‘SEGRO’) has today announced the practical completion of a 42,000 sq ft “shell and core” development on Leigh Road, Slough Trading Estate. The new development has been pre-let by Lancaster plc and will be used as a Jaguar Land Rover dealership.

Jardine Motors Group trading as Lancaster plc, has taken the units to operate its franchise which will retail and service new and used Jaguar Land Rover vehicles. The scheme comprises a 24,000 sq ft car showroom and an 18,000 sq ft workshop and servicing centre.

Lancaster will relocate the existing Jaguar Land Rover dealership from its current smaller site near the Slough Trading Estate, to the new units to enable substantial expansion of its business operations. SEGRO developed the units to a shell finish with Lancaster undertaking its own fit out prior to opening in late 2017.

The new development is expected to provide jobs for up to 75 employees with recruitment for a number of new roles underway.

Paul Lewis, Regional Director, Thames Valley and Data Centres, SEGRO said:

“We have worked very closely with Lancaster plc during the design and construction phase of this development, resulting in the delivery of a state-of-the-art car showroom, in line with the customer’s precise requirements. It’s very important to us to foster the growth of local businesses and we have really enjoyed supporting Lancaster plc with its expansion, helping them to meet their business goals.”

Stephen Pettyfer, Group Property Director, Jardine Motors Group said:

“We have been serving our customers in the area for a number of years but wanted to expand our established business to showcase the expanding range of Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles, and to allow us to better represent the Brand. Working with SEGRO to develop this new site has matched our requirements perfectly and we are very pleased with the quality of the development. We look forward to opening to our customers in the near future.”

Jardine Motors continues to invest and expand its business, adding various dealership locations across the country. Jardine Motors is an authorised franchisee for 23 manufacturers, operating in over 70 locations nationwide and employs over 3,000 team members.

The Slough Trading Estate is home to over 350 companies, providing a variety of different businesses across the spectrum of British industry. The Estate is a popular location for businesses in the Thames Valley, with access to a large, skilled workforce within the catchment area, which is set to expand following planned transport improvements including the opening of two Crossrail stations in 2019. SEGRO is committed to continually improving the onsite amenities for customers and ensuring the Slough Trading Estate remains a market-leading location for businesses, ranging in scale from start-ups and SMEs to national and multinational businesses.
