The Power of Certainty

SEGRO is pleased to announce it has started the process of establishing a new Simplified Planning Zone (SPZ) for Slough Trading Estate in collaboration with Slough Borough Council, and after notification of the Secretary of State. The consultation with the community has now begun and we are asking for feedback to be submitted through our ‘Have your say’ page.

There has been an SPZ on Slough Trading Estate since 1995, and it has played a critical role in helping Slough attract and retain business investment, and SEGRO to provide the best place in the UK for business to thrive. The new SPZ will be the fourth for Slough Trading Estate.

You can find out more about the history of the Trading Estate, the current occupiers and the work already being done in the community by SEGRO by visiting our Estate page below.

What is the SPZ?

The SPZ is a specialised planning permission that applies across most of Slough Trading Estate. It sets out a range of conditions that have to be met in order that some types of development, including light industrial buildings, warehouses and data centres, can be built without the need to apply for an individual planning permission.

Key features:

  • Flexibility
  • Certainty
  • Speed
  • Marketability
  • Benefits for new & existing customers
  • Continued investment in Slough

Beyond the buildings

Slough Trading Estate is an integral part of the local community and has been for over 100 years, and SEGRO remains committed to contributing to Slough’s long-term economic vitality.

Since the 1920’s SEGRO has been investing in local good causes and charity programmes and in 2022 launched the Slough Community Investment Plan (CIP). The plan will enable SEGRO to invest in projects over the long-term that are designed to inspire young people about the world of work, help unemployed people into work, support the growth of local businesses and create a better environment that improves the health and wellbeing of local residents.

SEGRO will achieve this by working in partnership with customers and suppliers as well as a range of specialist partners;

  • Learning to Work
  • Youth Engagement Slough
  • Groundwork South
  • Local Supply Chain
  • Fedcap Employment
  • YMCA St Pauls
  • The Slough Hub
  • Slough Business Community Partnership.
