High Level Schedule for Railway Works - August to December 2024

During permitted working hours Monday – Friday 07:30 – 17:30

Landfill extraction and sorting to separate plastic, wood, metal and earth. This is to enable the recycling and safe storage of the various materials.

 

This will involve using diggers to extract material and machinery to sort the materials.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Noise level: Low / Medium

Ongoing - Completion due end of October 2024.

 

During permitted working hours Monday – Friday 07:30 – 17:30

Earthworks for rail chord tie-in to Midland Main Line.

 This will involve using diggers, bulldozers and other plant to create a flat pathway for the piece of track which connects the freight terminal to the Midland Main Line

18th October (23:00) – 21st October (05:30).

 

 

Day and Night (as agreed in the Section 61) The times specified are when Network Rail closes and reopens the railway.

 

Works will start several hours after the start time and finish several hours before the finish time stated. This is to allow safety procedures to be established and removed before and after the works.

 

 

This is currently planned for the daytime, although if there are unforeseen circumstances this could be undertaken at any time during the weekend.

Earthworks, Cable ( concrete troughing) route installation and cable diversions.

 

This will involve using diggers and other plant to move earth and dig trenches for the cable troughs.

 

 

Piling Element  - 4 number piles 11m length to be installed re a new signal gantry ref 62/262.

 

This will involve pre auguring the receiving holes , vibration to insert  the steel columns into the ground. Some hammering maybe required depending on ground conditions encountered. The piling of each may take one hour.

Construction of the Underbridge Structure (Jack Box) – the concrete bridge structure that will then be slid into place under the Midland Main Line.

 

This will involve the installation of formwork, reinforcement bars and the pouring of concrete.

October 2024 – March 2025

Monday – Friday 8:00 – 15:30

Saturday 08:00 – 13:30

 

These consented works involve the clearing of vegetation , ground preparation and planting.

Our landscaping contractor will be carrying out works in the external country park areas.

 

Maintenance and preparation of the public rights of ways.

 

Essential woodland management along the River Ver.

 

Use of a tractor and flail to clear vegetation in consented areas ready to for this seasons staking and planting.

 18 of the sheet piles would be installed during permitted working hours Monday – Friday 07:00 – 23:00 Saturday 07.30 – 13:30

 Estimated 6 hours. Weather conditions are a factor.

 

With the remaining 6 sheet piles being installed at night under a rail possession when there are no trains running. (23:00) – (05:30).

24 sheet piles to be installed on the western side of the Midland Main Line.

 

This will involve pre auguring the receiving holes followed by vibration to insert the piles into the ground. Whilst some hammering maybe required this is not envisaged from our ground investigations.

Installation of the underbridge including track removal and replacement

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This will involve using angle grinders to cut the metal rails; diggers and other plant to remove the earth in the railway embankment, sliding the structure into place and then replacing earth around the new concrete structure and reinstating the operational railway above.

 

Works will be undertaken 24hrs per day during this period, however the majority of the work will be low noise level works.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We anticipate there may be some medium / high level noise activities during this time of short duration.
